As well as routine and cosmetic dentistry, we offer preventative treatments that are ideal for ensuring your teeth are in excellent health. When you visit our Surgery we will discuss any recent dental problems that you may have/be experiencing, Then the Dentist will continue with an initial examination, taking great care to check out any problems that you mention, with digital x-rays taken if required. Should any problems be found, he will discuss these with you in detail and get your consent in writing before commencing any treatment. We will print out your proposed treatment plan and ask for your signature signifying that you understood the treatment options that were discussed before you leave the Surgery after your initial visit.  We will make sure that we update your medical history regularly and will always attempt to make you feel at ease in the chair. We promise that we will be gentle with you and that we will never be to busy to listen or to heed your fear or phobia.... We will explain again and again until you understand and we will STOP immediately if you indicate to us that you do not want to continue ........

Our treatments include:

Fillings

A filling will replace part of a tooth that has been lost or damaged due to decay or accidental damage or injury. The practice does not make use of any amalgam fillings.White fillings are effective for repairing your teeth and can also be used as a veneer to cover discolouration that traditional cleaning won't remove.

Crowns

A crown is an artificial restoration that fits over a prepared tooth, strengthening and shaping it like a natural tooth. Crowns are also used to improve the appearance of crooked or discoloured teeth. Porcelain crowns are not as strong as bonded crowns, but look very natural and are often used for front teeth. All ceramic crowns offer a metal-free alternative, which can give the strength of a bonded crown, while adding the appearance of a porcelain one.

Fixed Bridges

A bridge can be used to fix a replacement tooth or teeth on either side of a gap. Bridges are fixed to the surface of the teeth next to the gap, and can be made of metal and porcelain, or just porcelain.

Root Canal Treatments

At the core of each tooth is the pulp, which in a healthy tooth contains living fibres, nerves and a blood supply. If this becomes infected, it may spread through the root canal system of the tooth, eventually leading to an abscess. A root canal treatment involves removing the dead pulp and filling the remaining space, with the root canal being cleaned and filled to prevent any further infection.

Removable Dentures

A removable denture replaces missing teeth. A partial denture replaces several missing teeth, and full dentures are needed if all of the natural teeth are missing. Complete dentures are mostly made of acrylic, while partial dentures can be wholly made of acrylic, or can consist of acrylic teeth on a light metal alloy base. Valplast dentures are made of a special nylon type material that makes them lightweight, secure and flexible.

Hygiene Care

Tartar cannot be removed by just brushing your teeth, so our skilled and experienced dental hygienists can gently remove it using special instruments in a process known as scaling. They will also polish your teeth and remove stains such as nicotine, coffee, tea and much more. We will also create a bespoke maintenance program for you to ensure that your breath is always fresh and clean.

Gum Disease Treatments: Root Planing

Gum disease affects the gum and bone supporting your teeth. It can begin with a buildup of plaque, which is mostly made up of bacteria and can lead to tartar if left untreated, making it much harder to remove. The gum will then become detached from the tooth forming small 'pockets' in which plaque can gather and bone supporting the tooth will slowly be lost. If left unchecked and treated, gum disease will lead to loss of teeth.

Root planing involves the deep scaling to clean teeth below the gumline, also cleaning out the pockets of plaque and tartar from the tooth roots. After these treatments the gum will sit closer and tighter to the tooth.
